Ives - Brahms - Ligeti

In his early work "Concert Românesc", Ligeti, born in Transylvania and Hungarian by origin, follows in the footsteps of Bartók and Kodály, creating a large orchestral work out of folk music motifs. With this "camouflage piece", he vainly tried to lie low under the dictates of Romania's repressive cultural policy around 1950.
