Der Nussknacker

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker, premiered in 1892 in St Petersburg, is as much a part of Christmas at the Semperoper as the Dresden Stollen or the famous Striezelmarkt. In their interpretation, Aaron S. Watkin and Jason Beechey draw on E. T. A. Hoffmann's story and create a fairy tale rooted in classical ballet, set against a Dresden Christmas.
