Auferstehung – Mahlers Zweite

Gustav Mahler's Second Symphony, the so-called "Resurrection Symphony", addresses no less than the great questions of human existence: death, hope and renewal. Accordingly, the dimensions of this five-movement work are immense, culminating in the chorus's words "Aufersteh'n, ja aufersteh'n", at first almost inaudible and finally furious.
