ZKO on Tour — Gabriela Montero & Simon Höfele

The gifted pianist and improviser Gabriela Montero presents Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 1 together with the Zürcher Kammerorchester. This work, composed in 1933 during a phase of artistic lightness before the wearing observation of censorship in later years, was regarded by Shostakovich himself as a "mocking challenge" to the traditional solo concerto.
