Two piano quintets in an unusual combination: both Johann Nepomuk Hummel's Quintet in E flat minor, Op. 87, and Ralph Vaughan Williams's Quintet in C minor combine piano with violin, viola, cello and double bass. The double bass gives both works particular tonal depth and warmth.
