Seven years ago he was the featured artist of the Philharmonie Essen: Ivor Bolton, a highly decorated maestro with a classical focus and honorary conductor of the stylistically assured Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg. With this ensemble – what dream team could be more fitting! – he now performs Mozart's effectively contrasted "Prague" Symphony to close the evening, opens it with Beethoven's heroic and luminous "Prometheus" Overture, and in between meets our current featured artist: Anastasia Kobekina, a shooting star of the classical sky with astonishing technique, who performs not only Joseph Haydn's life-affirming, cheeky First Cello Concerto, but also some of the captivating "Hungarian Dances" by Johannes Brahms, which her father, the composer Vladimir Kobekin, arranged in a virtuosic way for cello and orchestra.
