Beethoven Streichquartette

Beethoven's 16 magnificent string quartets are something like the "Mount Everest of chamber music". Some ensembles have conquered it gloriously, among them the English Belcea Quartet and the Gewandhaus Quartet, made up of excellent musicians of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, founded in 1808. For their joint performance marking the 200th anniversary of the death of the classical hero, they present one work each from his early, middle and late output.
