Beethoven

Heart-stirring longing! Ludwig van Beethoven, to whom a multifaceted portrait is dedicated in the year of the 200th anniversary of his death, repeatedly set it to music. He also invoked it in the finely wrought song cycle "An die ferne Geliebte", which the tenor Julian Prégardien, together with excerpts from Franz Schubert's "Schwanengesang", has chosen as the starting point for an atmospherically dense programme around the emotional worlds of belonging and home.
