Weihnachts­oratorium

Rejoice, exult: Bach wrote music for all the church festivals, for Easter, Christmas and Ascension. It is hard to believe that his Christmas Oratorio, today inseparable from the Christmas season, fell into oblivion after its first performance and was not heard again until the mid-19th century.
