We move from an intimate romantic world to a symphonic panorama. In his Second Violin Concerto, Prokofiev lets the instrument sing, at times dreamily, at other times with incisive turns; Jackiw makes it personal and direct. Bruckner then shows the grand gesture: a cathedral-like sound, brass that glows, woodwinds that move like morning mist.
