Melancholy is homesickness for something you have never experienced. In Melancholia, mezzo-soprano Fee Suzanne de Ruiter gives that elusive feeling a voice. Together with pianist Florian Verweij she takes you through music by Bach, Von Bingen, Boulanger and Berio, among others. In this concert we move between the different temperaments – sanguine (optimistic), phlegmatic (volatile) and choleric (calm) – until everything comes together in melancholy.
