Antony and Cleopatra

"These strong Egyptian fetters I must break, or else I drown in love," William Shakespeare has his hero Antony (Marcus Antonius) say in the drama "Antony and Cleopatra" (1607). The historically documented love of the Roman general and the Queen of Egypt, equally beautiful and powerful, around 40 BC is at the centre of Shakespeare's drama.
