Chamber music and song in one piece: Alena Baeva, Artist in Residence this season, has put together a programme in which voice, strings and piano merge into a dense twilight. In Respighi’s “Il Tramonto”, the sunset becomes a state of suspension between life and death; Brahms erects a monument to Shakespeare’s Ophelia in five miniatures.
