Dmitri Makhtin (violin): The Heir to a Tradition. Dmitri Makhtin is widely praised as a true heir to the illustrious St Petersburg violin school. Since his sensational debut with the Cleveland Orchestra he has been a regular guest on the leading international stages. Makhtin is known for a style of playing that "prefers suggestion to display"; he always seeks the deeper musical layer behind the notes.
