St Matthew Passion – Collegium 1704

Bach’s St Matthew Passion stands not only among the pinnacles of German Baroque music, but among the greatest achievements of European music as a whole. The legendary performance of the work conducted by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy in 1829 marked the beginning of a renewed interest in the music of the Leipzig cantor.
