Haydn expert Giovanni Antonini conducts Haydn's last symphony
When Joseph Haydn arrived in London in the 1790s, he was received like a rock star, and there was also thunderous applause at his farewell concert, where his last symphony was on the programme. At this concert you will also hear the Mozart serenade that made Salieri hear "the voice of God" in the film Amadeus, and an overture by the almost forgotten German-Swedish composer Joseph Martin Kraus, whom Haydn called a genius.
