Respighi: Feste romane

To mark the 25th anniversary of the ESMUC, the BMB offers a journey between Roman monumentality and circus theatricality. John Corigliano's Symphony No. 3, "Circus Maximus", composed in 2004, is one of the fundamental works of the contemporary repertoire for symphonic band. Conceived for a large ensemble of winds, percussion and spatial sections, the piece reflects on the spectacle of masses and collective violence through a writing that makes the fullest use of the dynamic and timbral potential of the ensemble.
