Georg Philipp Telemann often wrote his countless instrumental concertos for unusual and surprising combinations of instruments, with recorder and viola da gamba, or trumpet and violin, sometimes soloing together. This imaginative combination of different solo instruments can also be found in Bach's famous Brandenburg Concertos, which still shine today for their compositional and technical virtuosity.
