Basingstoke Symphony Orchestra’s November concert showcases three great romantic orchestral works. Originally written as incidental music to Lermontov’s drama of the same name, Khachaturian’s Masquerade Suite is simply full of Russian romanticism. Shostakovich’s Second Piano Concerto was written for his nineteen-year-old son Maxim.
