Bruch & Mendelssohn with Rolf Haas

Felix Mendelssohn’s “Scottish” Symphony No. 3 was inspired by his travels to Scotland in 1829, though it took the German composer 13 years to complete the moody, romantic work. Conversely, Max Bruch would not visit Scotland until the year after the premiere of his Scottish Fantasy in 1881.
