Vox Luminis – Meunier – Purcell: Dido and Aeneas

Dido and Aeneas is arguably the most emblematic of English operas. Inspired by an ancient myth, it tells of the tragic love of Dido, Queen of Carthage, and the Trojan hero Aeneas. The score is one of Purcell's most famous, although it was little appreciated by audiences of the time.
