The Messiah

A grandiose work, Messiah is without doubt the most frequently performed oratorio in the whole history of sacred music. The libretto contrasts sharply with the other works of this genre by the composer. Instead of presenting a majestic dramatic narrative, the text of Messiah focuses above all on the themes of prophecy and meditation.
