Rinaldo

The composer's first opera, conceived on his arrival in England, and a work renowned for its formidable vocal difficulties, Rinaldo was arguably Handel's greatest success during his lifetime. Composed to a libretto recounting the story of Rinaldo and the sorceress Armida, it enjoyed unprecedented popularity from its première.
