Mozart’s Terzetti & Notturni bring together the composer’s fascination with the basset horn (a tenor member of the clarinet family) and the tradition of domestic music-making. The Terzetti for three basset horns are experimental miniatures in which the instruments take the place of string parts, revealing their rich expressive possibilities.
