London Symphony Orchestra: Half Six Fix – Scriabin

Alexander Scriabin’s The Poem of Ecstasy is, as the title suggests, an intense, mystical work which seeks to capture the composer’s notions of artistic, religious and sexual euphoria. A sort of sonic translation of his own poetry, Scriabin makes full use of the orchestra to huge emotional effect.
