Der Besuch der alten Dame
The billionaire Claire Zachanassian returns to her dilapidated home town of Güllen to take revenge. As a young girl she became pregnant by the merchant Ill, and as a prostitute she was driven out of the town. Now she makes the impoverished people of Güllen a horrifying offer: if the villagers kill Ill, they will receive one billion.
