Richard Strauss

The first orchestral concert of the season is devoted entirely to Richard Strauss, born in Munich, and traces his stylistic development. ‘Metamorphosen for 23 Strings’ was his last major orchestral work, which he wrote as a resigned lament, shaken by the destruction of the Second World War.
