Béla Bartók

The most important Hungarian composer of the 20th century left only one opera: the one-act 'Bluebeard's Castle', composed in 1911. The well-known fairy tale is charged here with symbolism: the fearless Judith wishes to light up Bluebeard's castle with her love and fathom the secrets of the enigmatic man.
