Lakmé

In an imagined India, the Brahmin Nilakantha looks after a sacred grove with his daughter Lakmé. As soon as Nilakantha is away, Gérald, a young English officer, penetrates deep into the grove and falls in love with Lakmé. On his return, Nilakantha immediately senses the desecration and swears revenge.
